Meizu bringing Android 4.4 Kitkat to MX2 next week

Meizu MX2 rear

In April Meizu were one of the first Chinese phone makers to update their Flyme OS to Android 4.4 Kitkat for the MX3, now next week MX2 users will get the same treatment.

With Android 4.4 for the MX3, Ubuntu for the MX3, and development for a rumoured 5 new device, it was starting to look as though the Meizu development team had spread themselves to thinly for an MX2 update, but that is not the case.

Gizchina News of the week

According to Meizu in China, Flyme based on Android 4.4 Kitkat will be available for the Meizu MX2 from Tuesday of next week, bringing with it new features and optimizations. Apparently both a stable and ‘developer’ verion of the ROM will be released depending on what you wish to run.

Meizu is always late when it comes to Android updates much like Huawei and ZTE

Not as late as Xiaomi. None of their phones have KitKat yet apart from Mi3.

Yeah still very late though, 4.4.4 has already released. The old Meizu MX2 will get 4.4.2 first before most xiaomi phones. Also I recently found out all redmi 1/1s/note phones only get a stable update every 3 monthes! Xiaomi has really let it slip lately when it comes to firmware on their low end phones. Also phones like the mi2s are still on 4.1 despite very capable hardware. A lot of bugs as well, Xaiomi really aren’t as good when it comes to keeping their phones FW up to date as people like to think.
