26.1 million Xiaomi phones sold in H1 ’14, that’s more than all of 2013

Earlier today, Xiaomi supremo Lei Jun announced on Weibo that his company managed to sell 26.1 million smartphones in the first half of 2014. To get things into perspective, Xiaomi sold just 7 million units in H1 2013, which goes to show exactly how much the company has achieved in a span of one year.

The China based maker sold 18.7 million smartphones in all of 2013, a figure which has already been surpassed with one half of the year still in hand. Official stats were also posted on the Xiaomi blog, where the company mentioned that it saw a 271% increase in sales since 2013.

Gizchina News of the week

Xiaomi is more than just a household name in its native country of China. However, the company’s antics mean that its phones are extremely popular in overseas markets, something which Xiaomi gradually is aiming to cover itself. Besides China, Xiaomi is operational in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. With its popularity growing faster than ever before, Xiaomi is on the verge of expanding into India, Vietnam, Brazil and a few other similar markets through 2014.
