MIUI V5 Android 4.4 Kikat coming to 17 phones!

android miui v5 4

MIUI developers are rolling out Android 4.4 Kitkat updates to 17 phones. Oddly enough, not one Xiaomi phone is on the list.

If you are a Xiaomi phone owner you might want to look away from this news! Once again the developers of MIUI have shunned the flagship Xioami phone and have instead decided to work on bringing MIUI V5 based on Android 4.4 Kitkat to 17 other phones for rival phone makers!

Gizchina News of the week

On the list to get MIUI V5 based on Android 4.4 Kitkat are the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Oppo Find 7, LG G2, Nubia Z5S, HTC Butterfly and many many more none Xiaomi devices.

The full list of phones to get the update can be seen over on the Chinese MIUI forums here.

Xiaomi owners will have to wait for their Kitkat snack to arrive, or could you be the real lucky ones and be in for an Android L update?

The Mi2 variant update is not official, there’s no proper OTA KK update for them. I expect Mi3 to not get Android L later on life seeing this treatment by Xiaomi.

Kitkat is available for all Xiaomi models, with the exception of the Redmi/Hongi models.

While xiaomi are supposed to be known for good software support when it comes to updating their own phones to the latest version of android it seems they are some of the worst in the industry.

If you own any redmi device you will receive updates every 2 or 3 months and none of them are on kittkatt and owners have not even been told they will receive it or not. It should not matter that these phones are cheap they should still receive proper updates as people have paid money for working devices yet many have critical bugs that are unresolved. Motorola support the moto G very well as do Huwaei and others like zopo and jiayu who have all released kitkatt updates for their cheap phones.

Xiaomi’s older phones again like mi2/mi2s/mi2a, none of them on kittkatt all still stuck on 4.1!. The only kittatt phone is the mi3. This is worse than most mainstream large manufacturers and again also worse than most smaller chinese manufacturers like Jiayu or Zopo.

What’s amazing is kittkatt was announced in october 2013 and xiaomi have not updated any of it’s own devices apart from mi3.

What has happened to xiaomi and why don’t they support their own devices properly?

You are wrong Kitkat IS available for the m2/2S/2A. I posted a link to it earlier. I shall repost it again below:

Please kindly do not delete as it will help many people who own the above models of Xiaomi.

No problem, thanks. Hopefully now people will believe, that actually Xiaomi are keeping update, pretty much, except for Hongmi/Redmi smartphones.

I have a feeling though (and I could be wrong), that an Android L release for MIUI & Xiaomi is still a long, long way off.

The link that you have posted are for UNOFFICIAL KK based for Mi2S..created by Ivan..not from officially miui team (otherwise you could download them from miui.com official site, not from forum)

CM11 is official for Mi2S..but not from Xiaomi..

        Please don’t write bad news..

Miui/Xiaomi at this time support officially kitkat for Mi3 and for MiPAD..
