Xiaomi’s 22nd July “4” event could be more than just a Xiaomi Mi4
launch but an 4G
LTE conference with numerous new
phones.
The governmental
TENAA website in China recently certified a couple of
Xiaomi Redmi phones. The designs of the phones haven’t changed from the original Hongmi (launched last year), but specs have been updated to give the budget phone 4G
LTE support.
We can’t be sure which processor
Xiaomi are using for the
LTE equipped version of the Xiaomi
Redmi, what we do know is that it is a 1.3Ghz quad-core chip so with a Mediatek MT6582 or Snapdragon 400 Series. The official documentation states the LTE Redmi has 1GB RAM, runs
Android 4.4.2 Kitkat, has an 8 mega-pixel main camera and support for GSM, 3G and LTE.
From the
leaked images it looks as the
Xiaomi Redmi Note has also been updated to 4G
LTE spec, but we currently don’t know what hardware changes (if any) the Note has.
Expect the new
Redmi phones to
launch on the 22nd July along with the
Xiaomi Mi4 and possibly even the Xiaomi Mi3S.
