Meizu MX4 spied running Alibaba’s YunOS

Rumour has it that Alibaba are one of the top investors in Meizu, which would explain why we are see ing these photos of the current MX4 running YunOS.

Alibaba have had their fingers in many pies over the years, one of the less successful ones being the Android OS market. They have dabbled with creating their own Aliyun OS in the past which was released on their own OEM devices and a few 3rd party phones, but ultimately it hasn’t taken off.

Aliyun has now transformed in to YunOS, are much more grown up and elegant looking mobile operating system based on Android. Being an Alibaba product, YunOs has had Google stripped away from the systems core and replaced with alternative from their own stable.

Gizchina News of the week

The leaked images above confirm that at the very least Aliyun will be making an appearance on the Meizu MX4 at some point either as the default OS, an alternate download or perhaps even a dual boot arrangement.

Chances are we won’t see YunOS making it big outside of China anytime soon, but with Alibaba’s recent IPS, the company do have the cash needed to make a compelling eco-system.
