JingDong Dphone borderless phone coming this December

jingdong dphone

Details surfaced today that Chinese E-commerce site Jingdong are working to produce their own bezel-less Dphone for a launch in December.

It has long been a great for phone fanatics around the world to have a phone completely removed of bezels to the left and right of the screen. Sure enough bezels have gotten slimmer and we have finally witnessed the first borderless phone when Sharp unveiled the Aquos Crystal, and soon we will have an another model to choose from.

Gizchina News of the week

E-commerce giant JingDong have teamed up with an unknown manufacturing partner to produce their own Dphone Android smartphone scheduled to go on sale ahead of the Chinese holidays this December.

Company execs haven’t speculated on the phone specs only that it will boast a 5.3-inch display yet remain narrower than the iPhone 4S, a bold claim and one we wonder if they can actually live up to.

Do you think developing a borderless phone is what manufacturers should be focusing on?

Thanks to Simon for the tip.

Borderless … Hmmm, surely would love to have a phone like that if it has a good hardware and well optimised OS to go with.

just a panel kind of bullshit when it comes with the other smartphone part
sharp already makes it. Aquos crystal is awesome!

If specs are good and they update the phone with support but specs must be seen first and aren’t money oriented only like oppo then I’ll go for it.

Photo “for illustration purposes only”? Can’t otherwise imagine why the Apple logo is engraved on the home button.

Why can’t bezels and battery coexist?

They certainly can but it seems that form is overtaking function with manufacturers. There’s nothing useful about our phones if they don’t have practical battery life. Give me a 9-10mm 5-5.5″ phone with a 6,000mah battery and mid range specs and It’ll beat anything on the market today.

well, you might not be a guru about marketing then.
Apple sold billions of phones with no battery life at all.
Pretty phones sell better and faster than good practical phones, and i’m not talking about apple only.Even chinese clones sell better than ugly big battery-equipped phones.

I’m certainly no marketing guru but most consumer surveys these days show that battery life is the number one demand of smartphone users.

Why would you post some random iphone concept pic ( it even has the Apple logo on the home button) that is not even bezelesss, and has huge upper and lower bezels?
And than there is no mathematical way for a 16:9 5.3 inch screen to be narrower than the iphone 4s, the most it can be is slightly wider than the iphone 6.

Most likely the 5.3 inch display just announced by LG. Hopefully, the other specs are great too for a relatively low price (below 2000 yuan)

Amazon tried to do their own phone and it’s turning out to be the fail of 2014. If anything JD should maybe do a cheap tablet like how Tesco did, but I wouldn’t do a phone.

If the pricing is right, there is always a market in China. Amazon phone was too high priced and I believe the specs were not that great either.

It’s physically wrong the possibility of a 5.3 “diagonal in 58.6mm in width (like 4s or 5s). A maximum of 6 in width that is 67mm whereas there might be half a mm on each side that’s not so much the LG 0.7mm solution. Of course, is to add the ‘frame’ of the body…
