If you are after a rugged smartphone with half decent hardware then the $225 No.1 Xmen X2 is one to consider.
Being the type of person who does spend time in the great outdoors in the rain, mud and snow, I’m still not convinced I need a dedicated rugged device. I’ve found most ‘standard’ Android phone usually offer better specs for the money and if you treat them right you don’t need to worry about their durability.
However, this new breed of rugged Android phone coming from China is finally moving in the right direction and we are getting higher specifications and better looking designs that might work in all sorts of environments, not just while climbing a frozen waterfall.
The Xmen 2 from No.1 is one of the new breed and offers better hardware than most other similar devices. The screen is a larger 5.5-inch Gorilla Glass panel, there’s a Snapdragon 410 chip, LTE, 13 mega-pixel camera and 4500mAh battery.
For the asking price of $225 you could get a better ‘regular’ Android phone, but if you really need a rugged device then this one could be it.
