Gionee Elife E8 GFXbench appearance shows MT6795 SoC and 2K display

Gionee’s long awaited successor to the flagship Elife E7 has been sighed in GFXBench. The Elife E8 boasts a 2K display, and high-end Mediatek processor.

I will let you all in to a little secret, I believe I have already seen the rear of the Elife E8, but from a distance and I really wasn’t sure what I was looking at at the time. What I remember from the brief sighting is that the rear looks a little like the IUNI U3 i.e very curved, and there was a fingerprint scanner in the rear. Not much a story on it’s own but with these latest GFXbench scores we have something to talk about.

Codenamed the Gionee GN9008, the Elife E8 has been sighed with a 2k 2560 x 1440 display, 3GB RAM, Android 5.0, 8 mega-pixel front camera, 20 mega-pixel rear and Mediatek MT6795 chipset.

The Mediatek MT6795 is the same chip found in the HTC E9+, yet looking over the scores the Gionee flagship seems to do a little better in the scores.

Gizchina News of the week

gionee elife e8

Chances are that Gionee will ship the E8 with their latest version of Amigo OS, and the fact that the scores are looking good would suggest that they finally have an OS which meets the requirements of the hardware on tap.

No official word from Gionee on the release date yet, but stay tuned to GizChina for more news.

    Wait … What?! Why 2K on 4.6 screen. I wouldn’t mind 720p/1080p lol

    • ufg
      April 22, 2015

GFXBench often mistakenly lists the screen size as 4.6″ for some reason. I think because the UI is scaled as it would be on a 4.6″ phone instead of how it properly should be scaled.

      • Urke Zakelinho
        April 22, 2015

Oh, so I guess we can expect the old China tactic – 5,5″.

          April 22, 2015

It’s predecessor the E7 was 5.5, this will probably be too. But Gionee usually has a “mini” version as well. The E7 mini was 4.7 inches, the E6 mini was 4.5 inches. I expect the E8 mini to be 5 inches.

@balcobomber25 – I think all Asian women are like that. You are lucky to be able to buy a phone (and looks like she is okay with your explanations) … mine reminds me about my ‘working’ S2 on which I flashed lollipop. πŸ˜€

@Muhammad Yasir – let me know when you get a deal … good camera, 2 SIM slots and 32GB (expandable or no) is my minimum requirement. Will try explaining the wife. πŸ˜›
BTW, we still have our business plans on right… πŸ˜‰

    Wait … What?! Why 2K on 4.6 screen. I wouldn’t mind 720p/1080p lol

GFXBench often mistakenly lists the screen size as 4.6″ for some reason. I think because the UI is scaled as it would be on a 4.6″ phone instead of how it properly should be scaled.

Oh, so I guess we can expect the old China tactic – 5,5″.

It’s predecessor the E7 was 5.5, this will probably be too. But Gionee usually has a “mini” version as well. The E7 mini was 4.7 inches, the E6 mini was 4.5 inches. I expect the E8 mini to be 5 inches.

Gionee won’t sell this lower than $450. So expect retailers to sell this at $530+

It would cost a hell lot more than other flagship devices… Gionee think that they are Record Holders & Champions… They demand Premium price for the Hardware which is common and costs less among other Companies Flagships….
I hope they become affordable to become even more popular. Software update is also very slow with them.

Gionee is more expensive than some flagships from companies like Xioami and Meizu but cheaper than those from Huawei, Vivo and Oppo. The good thing about Gionee though is they sell their products under multiple brands like Blu in the US. Blu get’s the latest Gionee models about 6 months after Gionee and usually sells them a lot cheaper.

Too bad the MTK6795 retains the same underwhelming PowerVR G6200 GPU as its predecessor, the MTK6595. The G6200 is about as powerful as the 2-year-old Adreno 320, and is spanked by the now year-old Adreno 330. 2K screens should be paired with flagship GPU’s. Hopefully the Helios 10-core SOC’s pack more punch in the graphics dept.

A little higher frequency on Mt6795…(700Mhz vs 600Mhz)

Adreno is better on graphics benchmarks…but in-game measures are sometime a little differents

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm5yhy844XQ

In reality G6200 seem to be close to Adreno 330

In theory Adreno 430 on S810 is better than 420 on S805. In game measures give very close results on Nexus 6 S805 QHD than HTC M9 S810 FullHD when it’s in theory more powerfull with a less resolution (see the link, it’s not only about Apple and Samsung)
