UMi Fair will cost just $99 with fingerprint scanner

umi fair fingerpting phone

UMi have a new surprise up their sleeve! A new budget phone launching this month named the UMi Fair retailing at only $99.

UMi seem to be full of surprises and aren’t shy with the hardware even when it comes to their budget devices. In the next month or so we can look forward to the release of a new smaller version of the UMi eMax, then there is the UMi Hammer S with 5.5-inch display, USB Type C and fingerprint scanner, and now a new model called the UMi Fair.

Gizchina News of the week

The UMi Fair comes as quite a surprise to me as I was at the UMi office just last week and saw a couple of new upcoming models (hands on with the Hammer S coming soon), but no mention of this budget phone was made.

Details are being kept under lock and key for now and will we know is the phone will retail for just $99 and will feature a rear fingerprint scanner, dual LED flash, on screen navigation and Android Lollipop.

We’ll have more details of this budge smartphone from UMi as soon as possible.

Is this phone supposed to be a phone made largely by fair-trade materials (like fairphone)? or is it just a random name?

At $100 I doubt that’s the case, rather it meas that the price is fair… that’s how I’m reading this.

A random name to catch more buyers, war FAR from being fair and sustainable. It has coltan.

I am I the only one who doesn’t really care about a finger print scanner? Its not like I carry around secret government info or CIA hit lists on my phone 🙂

I never cared about it until I actually used one. Now I don’t think I could use a phone without one. It’s just so much more convenient to just swipe a finger and unlock my phone.

        Anyone can unlock it.

Fair enough I haven’t actually used one :-). So my view might change, but I don’t even have a lock password on my phone.

For you it probably wont make a huge difference then. I have little kids around that love to pick up phones and tablets and press the touch screen. A lock is required lol. My 3 year old nephew actually guessed my 4 digit pin once just by typing random numbers. I store a lot of work related info on my phone so security is a must.

“Designed for everyone”? That’s the worst line since Samsung’s “made for humans”.
