No kidding: Random Chinese phone brand claims Apple copied its design

While not a lot is going to change because of this, we thought we’d still share this rhetoric bit of news with you. But then, it’s China, and things are different in China…

A rather random Chinese phone brand that goes by the name of ‘100+’ has just accused Apple of ripping off the design of its ‘100C’ smartphone. The company claims Apple lifted the design of the phone to make the similar-looking iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Guess what next?Ā TheĀ Beijing Intellectual Property Office ordered Apple to stop selling its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in Beijing!Ā For real.

Gizchina News of the week

The order to stop selling the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus came after theĀ Beijing Intellectual Property Office said that it would be difficult for buyers to tell the ‘minute differences’ between the two phones. Pretty sure you didn’t see that coming…

Apple have sinceĀ initiated an administrative litigationĀ against the ban,Ā which allows them to continue selling the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus meanwhile.Ā Previously, we’d seen China’s rather notorious GooPhone pull something off, but on a much smaller scale.

as stupid as this is. this company actually existed before One Plus was even a thing. i remember seeing them popped up in chinese phone news sites from time to time.

my bad, i thought they got their name from another brand, as their design is clearly a rip off and 100+ is so close to 1+ ^^

The actual company name is Baili they were formed in 2010, OnePlus was formed in 2013. Also they released the 100C in April of 2014, the iPhone 6 was released Fall of 2014. I see minor resemblances between the two but not enough for a serious legal threat.

            Wrong.

The 100C was a grown up version of what a modern iPhone should be…aka grown iphone 3

Apple noticed they hadfall asleep after regurgitating the iphone 4 multiple times: 4S, 5, 5S…

They got caught off guard and now they will pay the price for cheating.

Please China forbid that blatant iCopy and let the original 100C rest in āœŒ

            ???

You don’t know what are you talking about…

My Kolina K100+ was purchased in August 2014, and started commercialization in April 2014 meaning it was designed ending 2013 as too cautious date…long time before the One plus one was even conceived.

I had both in my hands and the late is nowhere near the 100+.

          Full stop.

If HTC filed something like this I could understand as the 6 is heavily “inspired” by the One series. But that phone above looks like any generic phone from 2013.

If htc was to do something like that, he would get out of its debt since almost every phone in the past 2 years looked like the one series asd

    Isn’t that the Kolina k100+?
It was a really good phone!
Please, Yash, do not say “random” (or be sarcastic about it) and be informed & unbiased ā€¦ they are right.

Yes it is my 2014 Kolina!!!

      Long before iPhone 6 BS…

It still takes some good pictures but the screen got crushed as normal with my 6 chinese phones.

      Now with a LG G3 Cat6 Snapdragon 805 and decent screen resistance…

      I pray ?
