Cubot Max with big display coming in August

As many others recently also Cubot are working on a phone with display bigger than usual and unsurpringly named Cubot Max. The press release is full of marketing cliches so let’s try to just pinpoint some of the interesting parametres from it.

Max-2

It’s quite clear that Cubot Max will be a good device for watching movies, gaming or navigational purposes thanks to the big 6-inch display, but it’s still within the limits and not as monstrous as some other models.

Gizchina News of the week

Cubot Max should be employng octa-core MT6753A as the processor paired with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of storage. Cameras with have 13 Mpix and 5 Mpix resolutions respectively and the battery capacity looks quite alright with 4000 mAh.

As a bonus we have for you a video showing allegedly the design of Cubot Max, but to my eyes it still looks like renders and not the actual device, So let’s rather wait for August when the device should be making the market appearance.

    In other news
    360 Mobile N4S launched – 5.5 inch 1080p, Helio X20 @ 2GHz, 4GB RAM, 32GB NAND, 16MP and 8MP cams, 5000mAh, 151.3 x74.6 x 8.3mm, 169 grams, fast charge, IR blaster
priced at 1199CNY(179$) so a bit more than the 899CNY for the N4 but has a bigger battery, medal body and better cams
    http://www.360shouji.com/zt/n4s/index.html

a Sharp device with Helio X20 showed up in GFXBench

        Fine here some more news

Korea Times – Qualcomm faces up to a 1 trillion won fine in Korea for allegedly violating anti-trust regulations, the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) said Friday. – that would be some 880 mil $
“Qualcomm has been collecting royalty fees from mobile phone manufacturers based on certain fixed rates from the suggested price of a mobile device. Qualcomm should have sought royalty fees based on each chipset,” said the official.
        http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/tech/2016/07/133_209523.html
        – would be awesome if the Korea regulator has the balls to do the right thing, unlike every other regulator on this planet. Qualcomm collecting a tax on the entire device is ridiculous.

TSMC reported Q2 results – TSMC said it will see its first revenue from 10nm during the first quarter of 2017, and it expects 10nm to ramp steeply throughout next year.
“Our 10nm has been transferred from R&D to production,” Liu said. “Our first 10nm customer product has been produced with satisfactory functional yield. So far, three customer products have been taped out to us.”

Huawei Maimang 5 launched with SD625 at a very high price, starting at 2399CNY so we don’t care.

This is just for you since it’s PC related , Hynix lists HBM2 as available in Q3.

More LeEco pics leaks, assuming that’s the SD821 device

HAHAH … so Qualcomm siriusly bit off more than they could chew 😀

thing, unlike every other regulator on this planet. Qualcomm collecting a
tax on the entire device is ridiculous.”
y would korea be scared ? is Q.comm run by Mafia ?

YAY for the 10nm … but expect first devices to cost in upwards of $350…

heard about the Maimang a while ago… loathe the price (ofc)

YAY for the High Bandwith Memory 2.0 😀 (costs how much tho ?)

i REALLY hope the LeEco device is REAL ! and priced accordingly… over price it more than zuk z2 or op3 and they’re done for…

The China regulator sold out to Qualcomm – Qualcomm started investing in China and doing joint ventures right after the regulator started to look at them.
The China guys need to pay a lot just for licensing, based on the price of the entire device. And ofc no other regulator has done anything about it. Not the EU , not the US,nobody, they are all corrupted.

10nm is going to be pretty much mobile only and high end so no 100$ phones.

HBM solutions will be costly , not so much because of the HBM itself, more because of the interposer related costs.

The LeEco should be real. JD has a price cut for the Max 2 , it’s at 1899CNY i think but not checking now to make sure.
The cheaper dual cam 360 should be the device with SD652 , i call it Q4 Lite. Likely TENAA made errors and it’s bigger than 5.5 inch and the listed 1.4GHz are the clocks for the small cores.

PS: good thing you aren’t asking for more news, i got a few more but only a few lol.

nice catch on the price cut of the Max2 … they’re defo gearing up for a mega release of a super phone.

It’s not that strong, it is “stronger” than some of the other 8xA53 on 14/16nm but that’s about it.
It is nice that it supports 6GB LPDDR4X and i also like Pump Express 3 ( mentioned some detail in another comment here) but it’s still not great that it’s only A53. Ofc they do have the X20 and it is in some nice phones already so it’s ok. The P20 is slower but should have nice battery life and the X20 offer nicer perf.

The US Gov protects American business interests, nothing new there, no need for lists.Unless they got lists for free candy and then , yes pls.

10nm, who cares, A73 on 16nm would be great ,maybe we get some of that in midrange and 7nm will arrive quickly after in 2018. In any case Qualcomm, Mediatek, Samsung and likely Huawei will have high end 10nm so not too bad.

We’ll have to see how AMD addresses the 300$+ market. Not clear what the RX 490 will be and Vega does seem to have 2 diff versions, Vega 10 and 11. Not that high end ever offers great value, the best value is in the mainstream..

As for Type-C, doesn’t make much of a difference since it would still be USB 2.0 -like pretty much everything now. The only thing you get is a slightly different connector.
You aren’t getting USB 3.1 and UPD.
I want this for example http://www.mediatek.com/en/news-events/mediatek-news/mediatek-introduces-pump-express-30-its-fastest-battery-charging-solution-for-smartphones/
For that you would need 3.1 with UPD https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#PD
MTK demoed Pump Express 3 and they were pushing 5.8V and 6A for a total of 34.8W.The P20 is supposed to support it so maybe we see some phones with it soon. 83% in 27 mins in this demo

Yep, what a mess… First France, now this… Also, what an odd timing…

Maybe the Gov was preparing something, like sending troops in Syria. They made peace with Israel and Russia all of the sudden, something was off.

Something was off indeed… Let’s see how things evolve… I’m curious to see if there’s someone behind, like a manly man riding a bear while drinking vodka… 😁

Not that the West likes Erdogan …
We’ll see who wins, so far it’s unclear.
The coup lacks a voice and you can’t win without one

No one likes erdogan apart from erdogan and maybe -maybe- his mom. But West needs him right now because of isis’ menace, while some others have much to gain from this situation… Let’s see how things go!

It’s not that strong, it is “stronger” than some of the other 8xA53 on 14/16nm but that’s about it.
It is nice that it supports 6GB LPDDR4X and i also like Pump Express 3 ( mentioned some details in another comment here) but it’s still not great that it’s only A53. Ofc they do have the X20 and it is in some nice phones already so it’s ok. The P20 is slower but should have nice battery life while the X20 offers nicer perf so we don’t lack options.

Now it’s gonna get much worse. Erdogan has an excuse to suppress anyone he wants to. Nobody wanted a coup but once it started it would have been better to not fail.

P20 is 6757? That sounds strangely familiar, like I’ve seen it batted around on other phones already out

Nah since it’s not available yet. Try to Google for MT6757,not much out there yet.
