ZTE Max Pro: Big screen, small price ($99 unlocked, US)

zmax-pro_06If you don’t feel like shelling out $400-500 for a flagship phone this season, ZTE have something you might be interested in.

Known as the ZTE Max Pro, the phone is a $99 gadget with a rather large screen — a 6-inch (1920 x 1080p) one. Besides that, the Max Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor (as seen on the $400 Coolpad Max), 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.

Gizchina News of the week

It’s quite a well rounded phone to be honest for what it costs. It also comes with a fingerprint scanner on the rear, a 13 mega-pixel main camera and a 5 mega-pixel front facing camera. A 3400mAh battery and a USB Type-C port complete the package.

The ZTE Max Pro runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and offers support for VoLTE. We’re pretty happy about how good this phone looks on paper, and will try and source one for review to find out just how good it is in real life.

This is a Killer price, for a relatively o.k. specced phone. What is the catch ? Coz when some thing loks too good to be true, it usually isn’t.

These are very good specs, from a good manufacturer. It’s not Flagship but definitely not mediocre. No reason not to get one!! ☺

Isn’t the $99 price on contract, and $199 unlocked? The conclusive note on Gsmarean’s Hand-On review says so.

Haven’t checked it yet, but yeah, $199 sounds more realistic for this type of phone.

It’s $99 after an instant rebate, but from what I have read it is exclusive to Metro PCS.

“It will become available at MetroPCS on August 1 for $99, without any contract-signing required. If you pre-register for one before July 31, you can receive a free leather case for the phone when you purchase it. ZTE says the Zmax Pro broke a record, becoming the highest-specced smartphone for less than $100.”
