Samsung Partners With SK Telecom To Link 4G and 5G Networks

For the first time in the industry,Ā 4G and 5G networks wereĀ linked together to demonstrate the communication between these networks and this was championed by an alliance between Samsung andĀ South Koreaā€™s major mobile carrier SK Telecom.

The 4G network usesĀ 2.6 GHz frequency band while 5G network 28 GHz and 3.5 GHz frequency band. Despite the frequency difference, the South Korean manufacturing giant said that the demonstration was hitch free and there was clear streaming between the two networks. This success means thatĀ 4G and 5G users can interact regardless of the availability of Ā 5G infrastructure.

SK Telecom said:

ā€œAlong with the 5G networkā€™s 3.5 GHz frequency band that provides a wider coverage, and the 28 GHz frequency band that enables ultrahigh-speed transmission, the connection with the 4G network will help users enjoy the best communications services anywhere without disruptionsā€
