The unveiling of Honor 7X was obviously at the center of today’s Honor event held in China, but not many know the Huawei sub honor brand did seize the opportunity to showcase its latest water-resistant tablet to the World. Dubbed the Honor waterplay tab, the device’s main selling points include its waterproof with IP67 rating as well as its four stereo speaker which gives 3D surround sound for an immersive experience.
The device is built entirely on metal frame measuring 248 × 173 × 7.8mm; Weight: 465g and comes fitted with a monstrous 6600mAh battery with support for fast charge which Honor claims can fully jack up the device in 2.5 hours and can churn out up to 12.8 hours of video viewing or 9.3 hours of browsing. The device has a physical home button embedded with a fingerprint sensor.
In terms of specifications, the Honor waterplay tab flaunts a 10.1-inch display (1920 x 1200p) and runs Android 7.0 (Nougat) with EMUI 5.1 out of the box. Under the hood, the device uses Huawei’s own Kirin 659 octa-core processor paired with either 3GB+64GB storage option or 4GB RAM+64GB storage option.
In the camera unit, the device packs both rear and front camera sensors, but we are not immediately sure of the pixel counts. The company however confirmed the front camera is capable of shooting photos with blurred background – a first for any Android-powered tablets.
For connectivity, the honor waterplay tab supports 4G LTE (Optional), WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS and USB Type-C.
