VIVO X21 with in-display fingerprint sensor gets 3C certification

VIVI X21

After successfully unveiling the VIVO X20 plus UD with an in-display fingerprint sensor, VIVO again made headlines when it recently demoed the VIVO Apex which utilises  “half-screen” for the under display fingerprint scanner. Fresh information reaching us suggests the company still have some unannounced devices up its sleeve.

Reports say China’s 3C has granted approval to a new VIVO phone which when released will take over from the current VIV0 X20, X20 Plus, and X20 plus UD. The new device that has just been approved by 3C is the VIVO  X21 but would be released in four different variants including the base vivo X21, X21UD, X21A and X21 UD A.

While there’s no information on key specs, their naming does suggest the VIVO X21UD and X21UD A will come with under-display fingerprint scanner similar to that of the Vivo X20 Plus UD. What we can not ascertain is whether these devices will adopt the same “half-screen” for the under display fingerprint scanner just like the unannounced VIVO Apex.

Further details are lacking at the moment, but there are speculations that the VIVO X21 series will feature a borderless display supplied by Samsung with the upcoming octa-core Snapdragon 670 SoC by Qualcomm that is expected to support 18W fast charging.

Gizchina News of the week

Given that the top notch display is increasingly becoming a design choice by all and sundry, we can safely assume that the X21 series would feature the top notch.

We hope to see more details about the Vivo X21 in the days leading to its announcement, but not before the Vivo V9 which seems already set for unveiling as it was sighted in an outdoor banner a few days back.

Reports have it that the ApeX would be unveiled in China on March 5th and our guess is that the  V9 could feature at the March event.
