Comprehensive HTC U12 spec sheet revealed through a leak

HTC U12

HTC’s flagships are not leaked as often as Samsung’s flagships, but here we are with one. A Russian journalist dug up the supposed complete spec sheet of the HTC U12. The HTC U12 will be the successor of the U11 and will probably carry flagship DNA in its veins. Here we see some sneak peaks of what it will offer.

Shared on Twitter, the HTC U12 specs suggest a Snapdragon 845 SoC. This is in line with what we saw at a Taiwan 5G conference earlier this year. The HTC U12 was spotted at the conference demonstrating 5G (1.2Gbps) speeds. This lets us to conclude that it should be rocking a Snapdragon 845 chipset. The leaked schematics show 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The HTC U12 would sport a 6-inch screen that has Quad HD resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The display panel is a made up of Super LCD technology instead of AMOLED.

On the camera side, we’re just made aware of the MP count. The list shows a 12MP + 8MP duo on the rear and a 12MP sensor at the back. But this is a very vague description and we’ll have to wait a bit more for more details. But that’s not all, the HTC U12 packs quite a big battery of 3,980mAh capacity, even by HTC standards. Moreover, it will be a dust and water resistant handset and have dual SIM support. 5G support is not a surprise as it would sport the X20 LTE modem of Qualcomm.

The HTC U12 will run Android 8.0 unsurprisingly coated with Sense 10 as per the leak. PricesĀ are very HTC-like as the tipster says the handset will retail for $880. In terms of design leaks, there isn’t anything substantial to see right now. The only real leak was at the 5G conference. But that unit was wrapped in a case, hence we couldn’t see the real thing.
