MIUI 9 comes with a lot of great tweaks and improved features. But QuickĀ Reply is not one of them. Also, the notification shade in MIUI 9 is a mess. It doesn’t have bundled notifications. Many of us have gotten used to the handy Quick Reply feature of the notification shade. Personally, for me, it’s an important feature. Instead om MIUI 9 you get a long series of messages without any collapse or expand feature in the drop-down notifications. To our relief, a stable update is rolling out to address both these issues.

However, there’s just one caveat. The update right now is a nightly build specifically for the Redmi Note 4. If the MI community sees these features as good which is likely then Xiaomi will go ahead and implement them. The update comes with MIUI 9.5.4.0.NCFMIFA stable build and is accompanied by the February security patch. If you donāt have the update yet and are impatient, you can download theĀ Recovery ROM here and flash it. But this is only recommended for pros.
Apart from bundled notifications and easy quick replies, the update has new ringtones, charging sound, and lock/unlock sounds as well.
Currently, users have to swipe down on a particular message with double fingers to initiate Quick Reply. Then tap on the “Reply” button which is very annoying.
MIUI 9.5 will roll out to the majority of Xiaomi devices but only those running Android 7.0 will get the new Notification shade.
