On May 31, Xiaomi released the Xiaomi Mi 8 flagship in Shenzhen. This smartphone is hardly in-stock so many buyers have to rely on third-party retailers to own this device. Now, the second official sale of this smartphone took-off by 10:00 this morning. You can now make reservations for this smartphone and the 6GB+64GB version is priced at 2699 yuan ($422) while the 6GB+128GB will sell for 3299 Yuan ($469). You can get this smartphone on Mi Mall and Xiaomi Youpin for the launch price. However, if you don’t have access to these stores or your Chinese is bad like mine, then you may want to check on other big Chinese stores like Banggood (6GB + 64GB – $569.99) or Geekbuying (6GB + 64GB – $549.99).
Xiaomi Mi 8 main selling points revolve around the inclusion of a dual-frequency GPS with accurate precision positioning, Snapdragon 845 SoC, DxOMark camera rating of 105, multi-functional NFC (support 167 city bus card), fullscreen 5.0, dual 4G dual VoLTE, AI voice assistant and so on.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The hardware combo is so high-end that it managed to score over 300.000 on the Antutu benchmark software, making it the best scoring Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 phone on the market. The Xiaomi Mi 8 packs a 12MP+12MP rear camera setup with 1.4um pixel size, 4-axis OIS, dual-pixel autofocus and AI scene detection. Meanwhile, on the front, we find a 20MP shooter with 1.8um massive pixels, F/2.0 aperture, AI portrait mode and AI beautify. Along with the 20MP front camera, we also find an infrared lighting emitter and an infrared lens for Face Unlock to work.
