The Huawei Mate 20 Pro will apparently sport a flexible OLED display if the Korean website, ETNews is to be believed. The Korean publication cites industry sources for the piece of information. The upcoming Huawei smartphone is being referred to as a “strategic” move by the industry insiders and chances are that it’s the Mate 20 Pro.
Previously, it was reported that Samsung will be supplying OLED displays to Huawei for the Mate 20 Pro. But now sources claim that the phone maker phone maker will be relying on Chinese BOE to supply them flexible OLED displays. The displays are expected to go into mass production from this month.
The use of a flexible OLED display opens up quite a bit of possibilities. Firstly, complete removal of the chin on the bottom, allowing for a completely bezel-less experience. Another possibility is that of a fold-able smartphone, although there has not been any indication from Huawei whether they are working on such a device. It might even sport an on-screen fingerprint scanner. It will possibly sport Huawei’s 40W fast charging tech as we reported earlier. Other than that, if we are to speculate, there would likely be a triple camera setup on the back, following in the steps of the P20 Pro. It might sport the Kirin 980 chipset. The Mate 20 series is expected to launch in October this year.
