Alcatel 3T 8 with Android-Go is the newest Alcatel budget tablet

TCL is doing their best to steal some attention at IFA 2018. While the company biggest announcement was the BlackBerry Key2 LE smartphone, the company also took the opportunity to take the wraps off its newest Android-Go tablet under the Alcatel brand.

The Alcatel 3T 8 is the company’s last bet on the budget tablet segment and joins the family started with Alcatel 1 and 1X. The newest release aims to bring a decent performance and security ensured Android Go at a low-cost. As you imagine from the name, it carries an 8-inch display and it’s the first commercial tablet to ship with Android Go.

Gizchina News of the week

Currently, the company hasn’t published the complete list of specifications, but we already know that the Alcatel 3T 8 is fueled by a 4,080mAh battery. The tablet weighs at 279g and it’s rather slim at 8.2mm thickness. 4G capabilities are also ensured, and of course, will be one of the main selling points of this ultra-budget tablet. The Alcatel 3T 8 will start to be sold at “select markets” on the next week, starting at a $138 price tag.

A Bluetooth Keyboard and a Child-Friendly case will also be available as optional accessories. Of course, those interested in grabbing any of them will need to pay extra bucks for it. The Alcatel 3T 8, unfortunately, looks rather generic and the Matte Black, Metallic Black, and Suede Blue colors can’t help.

The 3T 8 brings an ultra optimized Android Go for its larger screen, so you can expect the tiny version of Google apps such as Google Go, Maps Go, Gmail Go, YouTube Go to come pre-loaded inside. The internal storage is 16GB, but you only have 12,7GB available for applications, but hopefully, there is a microSD card slot to save the day.

We expect to see the complete list of specifications and features of Alcatel 3T 8 to be revealed on the next week when the smartphone is scheduled to arrive in some “select markets.” Anyway, would you be interested in an Android Go tablet like this one?

Not the first Commercial Android Go tablet. That would be the Alcatel 1T7. Sold in middle east and Africa and a couple of Asian countries. A little research wouldn’t hurt
