The Honor Magic 2 has appeared at the IFA2018 show for the first time. After that, it has managed to spot in various spy photos. From those, we learned the phone will come with a sliding screen design, which will have an ultra-high screen ratio, a Kirin 980 chip to provide a powerful performance, and the latest leak refers to the charging head, which supports 40W super-fast charging. At the same time, it was reported the Magic 2 will use an AMOLED screen with an on-screen recognition support.

As the leaked photo shows, the Honor Magic 2’s charging head has an input power of 100-240V~50/60Hz, which is standard. However, in terms of output, the phone supports 5V/2A or 9V/2A or up to 10V/4A, which means that the maximum power of this charging head reaches up to 40W.

At present, the maximum charging power of many flagship smartphones is only about 20W. The 40W fast charging used by upcoming Honor Magic 2 raises the charging speed to a different level.

In fact, the previous generation Honor Magic smartphone has also supported the 40W fast charge, but it came with a 5V/8A support. The Honor Magic 2’s charging head has greatly reduced the current. Obviously, the output voltage and current of the charging head are not as large as possible. These two factors will not only affect the charging power but also affect the safety and heat generation of the charging process.

However, the Honor Magic 2 won’t be the fastest-charging smartphone or the only handset with such characteristics. We know the OPPO Find X supports 50W output power and the Huawei Mate 20 series will support 40W charging as well.
