iPhone XS Max camera can’t beat reigning champ Huawei P20 Pro

DxOMark has just published the results of its in-depth analysis of the iPhone XS Max cameraAlthough at first glance the specifications of the camera seem similar to those of the iPhone X, there are important differences.

The 12MP sensor of the wide-angle module of the dual camera configuration is now larger than before with 1.4 μm of pixels, and the XS Max is equipped with a 6-element lens with a f/1.8 diaphragm.

The iPhone XS Max achieves a total score of 105 points. Both the quality of the photo and the video in good lighting conditions are excellent, with a very wide dynamic range and good details.

The iPhone XS Max gets 110 points in photographic quality. The exposure in the exterior images tends to be successful, the levels of detail are high and the colors are pleasant. The new HDR Intelligent function of Apple generates images with very good exposure and a wide dynamic range in all conditions.

In low light conditions, the luminance noise becomes a bit more intrusive than with other high-end phones, and the iPhone’s zoom mode is somewhat behind the competition (specifically, the Huawei P20 Pro).

Gizchina News of the week

With a score of 96 points in video quality, the device shows exceptional video quality with good lighting.

The total score of 105 points places the iPhone XS Max in second place in the global ranking of DxOMark, just behind the Huawei P20 Pro.

It is worth to mention that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 scored 103 points in DxOMark test, the phone showed fast and accurate autofocus capability, and in most cases the dynamic range is wide. It retains a good detail with up to 4x zoom and the details preservation and noise reduction achieved a good balance.
