Snapdragon 8150’s AI Processing Sets Record, Helio P80 Does Well Too

Qualcomm’s upcoming 8150 chipset is probably going to set lots of records and it actually already did a couple days back, at least on the benchmark app AnTuTu where it scored over 360,000 points, which is over 60k more than the SD 845, around 45k more than Huawei’s Kirin 980 and almost 10,000 points more than the Apple A12 Bionic chip.

Today, the Snapdragon 8150 SoC appeared again in yet another benchmark site, this time it’s not about CPU or GPU raw power though, instead, what this benchmark calculates is the chipset’s AI performance.

If we look at the image below, we discover that the upcoming CPU scored 22082 points, on a dev platform (so no real phone here), sitting in front of the MediaTek P80 also on a dev platform which got a comforting 19453 score.

The two development prototypes are then followed by some real phones already on the market such as the OnePlus 6, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, P20 Pro, Google Pixel 3 XL and finally another MTK P60 dev platform.

What actually stands out in the table, aside from the great performance of the next Helio P80, is the score of the OnePlus 6 that almost doubles the one they got out of the Pixel 3 XL, which is very odd considering that both phones pack the same SD 845 CPU.

This may be due to the algorithm Google’s phone runs, allocating an entire core to image processing. We aren’t sure why that core doesn’t work as any other when out of the camera app though.

What do guys think about these scores? Were you surprised to see Mediatek’s CPU up there? Let us know down below!
