Report: Meizu looking to strengthen presence in India in coming months


Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meizu plans to once again strengthen its presence in the Indian market, a report from BGR revealed yesterday. Although the company has  previously debuted back in 2015 by introducing M1 Note smartphone and few others in series, currently it is a mere shadow of its former self in the Indian market.

In the past few years, we have experienced Chinese companies like Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo and many others evolving in the Indian market and hence it has made the market more competent and populated with time.

According to BGR sources, Meizu is anticipated to launch a product next month (December) and is planning to release their products targeting both premium and budget segment smartphones. In addition to that, sources also reveal that the company may have already planned to introduce 3 new smartphones in India, out of which the Meizu 16th is also expected which could be competing with OnePlus 6T flagship phone. Apart from that, the other phones will lie into the budget segment which is vigorously competent.

As per Counterpoint research, Xiaomi currently rules the budget segments with a 23% overall share in Indian market and as OnePlus dominates the premium segment with 30% of sales.

Meizu could be releasing their two phones in next year (January) with a new beginning and it would be very interesting to see how Meizu copes in this congested highly competitive market.
