Today, Xiaomi co-founder and President Lin Bin released some samples of images taken with the recently released Xiaomi Mi Play. Lin Bin said that Xiaomi Mi Play’s large pixel AI dual camera produces good images which are well above average.

The Xiaomi Mi Play comes with a 12MP+2MP dual rear AI dual cameras, of which the 12MP main lens has a unit pixel area of 1.25 μm. According to the company, the Xiaomi Mi Play daytime image is naturally clear, and the night scene images are bright and acceptable. Lin Bin released two images taken inside a house with good illumination. Overall, the images seem clear enough but there was no nighttime sample. On the front, the Xiaomi Mi Play is equipped with an 8MP self-timer lens which supports AI micro-plastic beauty, AI deep learning facial features, face-lift, beauty skin and so on.

Looking at the core configuration of this device, the Xiaomi Mi Play comes with a 5.84-inch water drop screen. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The lights of this smartphone are kept on by a 3000 mAh battery. This smartphone is priced at 1099 yuan ($160), and its available in dream blue, twilight gold, and black colour options. Looking at the configuration of this smartphone, its SoC and battery is a turn-off but for $160, its a fair bargain.
