First look at the UMIDIGI A5 Pro: budget phone with flagship design

UMIDIGI A5 Pro

In the last few years there was a huge race in the smartphone market. Who sells the phone with the most RAM? Who builds the fastest processor? Who reaches the highest resolution? The result? Phones became more and more expensive. Today you can find mobiles for more than US $1000. But smartphone brands forgot about people that can’t or don’t want afford this.

UMIDIGI, a Chinese brand just realized that and decided to build a phone for these people. Today they showed the result – The UMIDIGI A5 Pro – in a first appearance video. Let’s check out the unveiled specs and the great possibility UMIDIGI gives to customers to get one of their phones for FREE!

As we can see in the video UMIDIGI presents the A5 Pro with a gorgeous build quality. Even if the price will be less than US $150 they used 2.5 D curved glass on both sides of the phone edged by a metal frame which is unbelievable regarding the price. The back cover is available in space grey or breathing crystal.

It seems like UMIDIGI understood what the main point of a phone is – Staying connected. That’s why they not only included a common hybrid dual Sim tray but a triple slot for one microSD- and two Sim cards which support VoLTE with 33 global LTE bands.

They didn’t show the display in the Hands-On video but concerning to previous press releases it will be a FHD+ (2280 x 1080) display with waterdrop notch. That’s a big advantage compared to phones in a similar price range like the Redmi 7 (HD+, 1520 x 720).

What we can see on the back is really surprising as triple camera sensors were reserved for expensive camera phones in the past. But following its company statement “Redefine the budget phone photography” UMIDIGI broke that rule and put a 16 MP Sony ultra-wide-angle triple camera and 4150 mAh big battery in the budget device. That’s great because mobiles are replacing cameras more and more so you will be prepared for the future.

The fingerprint sensor completes the package and will help to save your data but unlock the phone fast. And the phone it still remains 3.5mm audio jack!

UMIDIGI will officially launch the A5 Pro with full specs on May 8th and the global open sale date will be unveiled after official announcement. Now you can add the UMIDIGI A5 Pro to cart at AliExpress on UMIDIGI official store, UMIDIGI promised that there will be a super surprise for the product. Until then they are offering everyone the chance to win one of ten UMIDIGI A5 Pro and two units each of S3 Pro, F1 Play, Power and A3. You can join the giveaway here. blade a7 seems pretty good for the money, might replace my wife’s zmax pro…but that $88 price is for the 2GB ram/32GB rom version. The 3GB/64GB version is $103, still a great deal but we won’t know how it compares to this Umidigi until we get all the specs.

The only good thing about blade a7 is the p60, everything else is just pants.
This, once again, shows why Umidigi are fast becoming the King of the budget phone.
4GB RAM, FHD+ display, finger print scanner, 4150 mAH battery, triple camera, USB C port, triple slot tray instead of hybrid dual slot, global bands.
You would be looking at a mid range phone at around $250 to get all that normally.
The only compromise is the Helio P23, which is below some of the other competitors in the price segment, however, none of the other competitors give everything mentioned above.
The P23 is perfectly adequate though, especially if all you’ll use the phone for is social media and video watching, and having the 4GB RAM will help performance.
And the other big plus is the almost stock Android, with no bloat.

If it’s not an 855, Kirin 980, or latest Exynos, then you can’t remotely even think of it as a Flagship phone. It’s another cheap spec phone in a flooded marketplace.

hence the title of the article…”BUDGET phone with flagship design.”

Looks good. If the price point can be less than the F1 power, I’d consider..I have the a3 pro, one max and F1 play. This would be a cool addition.

The triple rear camera, the 4000mAh battery and the smart MediaTek processor make it really good at the price….
