Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi earlier today announced a new entrant to its smartphone series – the new Xaiomi CC series. There aren’t any details yet on when to expect the first devices under the series, however, the brand CEO Lei Jun who made the announcement today offered some insight into the new CC name.
The CC series stands for colorful and creative as developed by the youngest Xiaomi team- the Chic & Cool 90 team. And while no product was announced today, Jun confirmed that the Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e will be the first two devices in the new series. The 9 in the naming is in celebration of the company’s 9th anniversary.
Unlike the Mi and Redmi series, Jun explains that the Xiaomi CC series is a different series, designed by its young team with vast knowledge in art and targeted at young fashion trendsetters that “want to define themselves”. In essence, Xiaomi will churn out selfie-focused flagships targeted at the young fashionista.

The new phone will have a new aesthetics concept of “Xiaomi X Meitu AI Aesthetics Lab”, combining advanced camera hardware and beauty technology. Details about the Xiaomi Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e already leaked out, however, we are not certain when these devices will be made official.
