Windows 10 is on 900 million devices, the billion in sight for early 2020

Windows 10

Microsoft is now hoping to pass the symbolic bar of the billion devices under Windows 10 by next year, while the adoption by users has intensified in recent months.

The company is proud to announce on its official website that more than 900 million devices are running Windows 10 today, more than four years after its release. “Thanks to our customers, we’ve added more new devices to Windows in the last 12 months than ever before”. Said Yusuf Mehdi, Windows & Devices Group VP.

A billion device will finally be reached in 2020

The initial goal was to exceed the threshold of one billion devices under Windows 10 before the end of 2018. Microsoft had quickly revised its ambitions downward but now estimates that 2020 will be the right one, with a faster increase in the number of installations in recent months than in previous years. For proof, more than 200 million users were counted between September 2018 and today.

“#Windows10 is on more than 900M devices! Thanks to our customers, we added more new Windows 10 devices in the last 12 months than ever before. From PCs to HoloLens to Xbox to Surface Hub, Windows continues to power innovationā€”with more to come next week! ” Said Yusuf Mehdi in a tweet.

It is worth to mention that Microsoft has been secretly developing other new systems, such as Windows Core OS. Speculations regarding the Windows Core OS has been circulating for a long time. This system first appeared in 2017 but Microsoft never confirmed or denied the existence of Windows Core OS until now. But in a recent document associated with Windows 10 v1903 May update, Microsoft included some statements that relate to Windows Core OS. We just have to keep up with the speculations and we will let you know the latest development.
