iQOO Neo 3 will claim the crown of the cheapest Snapdragon 865-powered phone

Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO recently released the iQOO Neo 3 with flagship specifications and a “gaming-phone” label. However, the phone is pretty far from what other competitors in this range like Black Shark and Nubia are offering. For instance, the handset came with a standard 60Hz display, while the competition is playing with 120Hz. Now, the Chinese firm wants to address the disappointment with a new smartphone dubbed iQOO Neo 3. The new flagship will not only be better in terms of specifications, but it will also be surprisingly cheaper.

Gizchina News of the week

The iQOO Neo 3 will be revealed on April 23 with Snapdragon 865 and an improved 144Hz refresh rate display. Today, new bits of information came to reveal the pricing. The new information comes straight from the realms of Chinese social media Weibo. According to the post, the handset’s price will start at CNY 2,998 (~$425 / €389). This price will give the smartphone the crown of the cheapest Snapdragon 865-powered smartphone. Interestingly, this puts the Neo 3 in direct competition with Xiaomi’s Redmi K30 Pro which is priced a little bit higher at CNY 2,999.

In the case of Redmi, we saw that the company had to cut some corners. The vanilla Redmi K30 has a 120Hz display, the Pro variant was launched with a 60Hz panel. According to the company’s GM Lu Weibing, this was a necessary move to bring down the price. We are curious to see which corners iQOO will need to cut in order to reach this aggressive price. Of course, the high-refresh-rate display is safe here.

We’ll have to wait a couple of days until the official announcement. However, we won’t be surprised if leaks keep popping out everywhere ahead of the release.
