Redmi to launch a MediaTek Dimensity 800 5G phone soon

Redmi

Yesterday, Chinese manufacturer, Redmi, announced the Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition. In addition to the K30 5G Racing Edition, the company will also launch a new 5G smartphone this month. According to the general manager of the Redmi brand, Lu Weibing, the company is preparing new products. Recent information from Lu Weibing as well as Redmi product director, Wang Teng, suggests that Redmi will use the MediaTek Dimensity 800 5G SoC soon. This chip is MediaTek’s dual-mode 5G SoC for the mid-market. We are likely to see this chip in a Redmi Note series.

Of course, the Dimensity 800 SoC is a cheap chip thus, this smartphone will probably be the cheapest 5G device from the Chinese manufacturer. Although we have reasons to believe that this phone is in the Note series, there is no specific name for the device. However, sources claim that it will be in the Note 10 or Note 9 series. Furthermore, the new device may be available in standard and Pro versions. While the standard version uses the Dimensity 800, the pro version will have the Dimensity 800+ SoC.

Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition won’t be the cheapest 5G phone for long

For now, the K30 5G Racing Edition comes with a 1999 yuan ($282) price tag. This, the new Redmi Note series device should come with a 1599 ($225) – 1999 yuan ($282) price tag. If this happens, it means that 5G smartphones are swiftly becoming cheaper. Very soon, we will likely have 1000 yuan ($141) 5G phones which will boost the popularity of 5G.

As of now, there is no information on the Redmi phone to use the Dimensity 800 processor. In recent times, Xiaomi has been rebranding its smartphones. We can not tell if this device will be a re-brand with a new cheap or if it is a new phone altogether.

Either way, we know that the Chinese manufacturer will soon release a cheaper 5G smartphone and it is worth looking forward to.
