Xiaomi Mi Smart Camera SE PTZ variant launched for CNY 149 (~$21)

Xiaomi has a wide array of products from various ranges and segments, among them we have the company’s surveillance camera and action cameras. The company has recently released a new PTZ camera. This time around, we’re talking about a model that is truly affordable. It’s the company’s cheapest model so far. The model is dubbed Mi Smart Camera SE PTZ version and retails at CNY 149, cheap as $21.

The new camera is the fourth of this kind to come from Xiaomi’s “hands”. Before this model, the company already released three other PTZ camera units – the first with 1080P, another one with 2K resolution, and a Pro version.

Worth noting that this particular model does not come with automatic vertical pan/til control. However, users can tilt it vertically and the automatic horizontal rotation is also available. Moreover, the camera features a 2MP camera featuring 1080P video recording. The new PTZ unit makes use of WDR technology. Through the use of this technology the panel can retain more light even if it’s backlit. Moreover, the Mi Smart Camera SE PTZ boasts a 940nm infrared fill. It features an improved optical structure, therefore, the fill light is more uniform and the night vision permeability is also stronger. As a result, users won’t experience red exposure at night and no visual pollution.

When it comes to software features, the Mi Smart Camera SE PTZ boasts a new generation of H.265 video encoding. Moreover, the bit rate is 50% lower than before. Users can watch 1080p HD videos smoothly even with just 1M uplink bandwidth. When it comes to the external storage feature, you can use a microSD to expand it. However, there are other solutions supported like Network-attached storage or Cloud Storage. The records stored in the MicroSD can be played back at 1x, 4x, and 16 speed. So users can navigate through a recorded video much more easily.

Among the smart features, we have a human detection feature. It, as the name suggests, ensures that the camera can easily identify humans. As a result, it won’t raise a false alarm due to the movement of pets, wind, grass, or other objects. That’s really an interesting and smart feature. The new camera is available through Xiaomi’s Youpin platform. Unfortunately, there’s no clue if this cheap PTZ camera will ever leave China.
