Yesterday, OnePlus broke the news about the launch of its new OnePlus TVs On July 2nd in India. Following this, the company has been actively teasing the product and today, it has hinted that the new TVs will be affordable than ever before and priced under Rs.20,000 segment.

The company has teased a picture of the TV in a silhouette which shows the slimmer design. OnePlus tweeted the poster, asking users to guess the price. However, besides the poster is a hint of pricing for the new TVs.

COVID-19 Effect?

The tagline says the OnePlus TV will be heavy on specifications and affordable at a lower price. There is a hint for this with the mention of 1X,999 which indicates the company will break the industry with an under Rs.20,000(~$265) price tag. This could mean anywhere between Rs.10-20K price bracket but according to reports, the TVs could start at around Rs.14,999(~$199).

The news about the newer TVs from OnePlus started a while back. Last month, the TVs with remote control were spotted on Bluetooth SIG. After this, things went out of sight until the company itself confirmed the arrival of new TVs in India. However, we are not sure if the leaked TVs are what the company is planning to bring here yet.

Gizchina News of the week

OnePlus launched its first-ever premium range of TVs last year. It had the premium pricing with the latest 4K QLED panel, Integrated sound systems and more. Soon after, the sales of the TVs were not that impressive and with the latest OnePlus 8 smartphones getting criticized for expensive pricing, it was high time the company had to rethink its strategy.

OnePlus Z, now OnePlus TV

Parallelly, the company’s alleged mid-range smartphone has been in the radar for a while now. It is expected to be one of the company’s strategies to capture the mid-range segment in markets like India.

All in all, it is more understandable that OnePlus has set a clear goal of launching affordable products in the future. Recently, the company also teased a video hinting deeper blacks and vibrant colours on the new TVs.

However, we don’t have any other info about the specifications of the product and will have to wait for a few days to know about them as we inch closer to the launch.
