iPhone 12

We’re reaching September and it often brings the next big thing from Apple’s smartphone division. However, this year will be slightly different due to the ongoing pandemic. Instead of its usual September launch window, the company will take the new iPhone 12 series to October. These devices will be pretty important for Apple enthusiasts since they’ll be the first iPhones to come with 5G connectivity. As soon as the new iPhones get released, Apple will discontinue older models. That’s what a new report states.

The source of the new information is the Twitter account @iAppleTimes. Apparently the source is familiar with the matter and according to the report, Apple will discontinue the iPhone XR after the iPhone 12 launch. According to the info, the availability of the more powerful iPhone SE 2020 gives users a better alternative over the XR. The company does not want to reduce the price of the XR even further. We know that in the end of day, some users would still prefer a modern XR over the iPhone SE 2020 that looks like an updated iPhone 8. It’s the end for the iPhone XR successful life

For those who still prefer a more modern look, the source states that the iPhone 11 which is actually the successor to the XR. The last year’s model will get a price cut and start at a $549 price tag. The phone currently sits at the $699, so in the end, it will get a $150 price cut which is excellent. Worth noting that the iPhone 11 will be the only device to keep its head this year.

The report further states that Apple will move on to discontinue the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. After all, with the release of 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max the company believes that there’s no much sense in keeping the last year’s models. If you recall, the company took a similar decision last year when it revealed the iPhone 11 series. It discontinued the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. The big difference here is that the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max certainly proved to be more successful than the 2018 models. The only real hit of 2018 was the iPhone XR.

Any price cut on the last year’s model would not be really interesting for customers. After all, the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will certainly surpass their predecessors. The new models come with more advanced chipsets featuring a 5nm architecture and improved cameras. Moreover, they’ll able to surf the blazing fast speeds of the fifth-gen network.
