Xiaomi to crowdfund a 20-inch Mijia LCD blackboard for 129 yuan ($19)

Last year, Xiaomi launched a Mijia LCD blackboard, available in two sizes of 10 inches and 13.5 inches. According to recent information on Xiaomi Mall, the 20-inch Mijia LCD backboard is now official. The crowdfunding of this device will commence at 10 o’clock on September 2nd. This device has a crowdfunding price of 129 yuan ($19) and a retail price of 149 yuan ($22).

According to reports, the Mijia LCD blackboard uses a custom LCD film formula and blue-green notes. The screen supports high-sensitive pressure-sensitive technology such that a light click gives result. This is a major improvement over the Mijia LCD Digital Drawing Tablet which can only display one single color. This device comes with a steel stylus that attaches magnetically to the side of the table just like the iPad’s stylus.

The company also said that the Mijia LCD blackboard uses a blue-light LCD screen. It claims that this solution is safer, dust-free and does not hurt the eyes. In terms of battery life, this zero-power LCD screen will only consume power when the screen is cleared. If the screen is cleared 100 times a day, the battery can last for one year.

Gizchina News of the week

As a practical tool for recording creativity at any time, the Mijia LCD blackboard is equipped with an ultra-light magnetic stylus, weighing only 7 grams, and can be magnetically attached to the side when not in use. The thickness of the handwriting is controlled by the writing pressure. Also, there is no delay in writing.

The 20-inch Mijia LCD blackboard features one button at the bottom of the screen. This allows the user to quickly erase the screen’s content. Moreover, there is a lock on the side that serves to disable the erase button. This way, you won’t be accidentally erasing the content. The tablet boasts an ABS Polycarbonate build which should make it pretty light even for its size. Just like other drawing tablets, the 20-inch Mijia LCD blackboard boasts a CR2025 coin battery that should last up to one year before needing replacement.

As aforementioned, this tablet has kids in mind but can be used by anyone. However, due to its kid-centric nature, it comes in vibrant colors – Pink and Blue. Users wishing to back the 20-inch Mijia LCD blackboard project can get one of the first units. It is available for 129 yuan or $19 at the Xiaomi Mall. Unfortunately, for global customers, this doesn’t seem to be a product that will be available outside of China.
