Samsung
has quietly added two new budget phones to its Indian lineup. The Galaxy M08 and Galaxy F08
are now official, and there is not much separating them from the recently launched Galaxy A08. In fact, the two phones are almost identical to the A08 in terms of hardware. The main difference is where
Samsung plans to sell them. The F08 is aimed at Flipkart, while the M08 is expected to be sold through Amazon.

Same 6.7-inch screen
Both phones have a 6.7-inch LCD display with 720 x 1,600 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. That is still an HD+ panel, so I would not expect flagship-level sharpness here. The 90Hz refresh rate is a welcome touch, though, especially on a budget phone.
The Galaxy M08 and F08 are also rated IP64 for dust and splash resistance.
MediaTek chip and 4GB RAM
Under the hood, Samsung uses the 6nm
MediaTek Helio G99+ chipset. It has two performance cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz and six efficiency cores running at 2GHz.
The phones come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while a microSD card slot gives users the option to add more storage. Both models are 4G-only. This is clearly entry-level hardware, but the software support is much more interesting.

Android 17 with six years of updates
The Galaxy M08 and F08 ship with Android 17 and One UI 9. Samsung promises six major Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. That means these inexpensive phones should remain supported for a surprisingly long time.
For me, this is probably the biggest selling point of the two phones. A budget device that gets long-term software support is far more useful than one that looks good on paper but is quickly forgotten.
50MP camera and huge battery
The rear camera setup includes a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with autofocus, paired with a 2MP depth sensor. An 8MP camera handles selfies.
Video recording goes up to 1080p at 30fps. Both phones also pack a 6,000mAh battery with support for 25W wired charging.
Connectivity includes 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Price is still not official
Samsung has confirmed the 4GB+64GB configuration, but it has not yet officially announced the retail price. Earlier reports pointed to INR 16,999, around $177, for both models, but this remains reported pricing rather than an official Samsung figure.
The Galaxy M08 and F08 are not exciting phones in terms of raw hardware. But Samsung is clearly focusing on the basics: a large battery, 90Hz display, 50MP camera and long software support.
And honestly, for this part of the market, that combination may matter more than chasing impressive benchmark numbers.
