Samsung Starts Firmware Development for Galaxy S21 series

Samsung recently announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series, with that just happening a couple of weeks back; now we have rumours and leaks regarding the successor to the Galaxy S20 series, the S21 series of smartphones. According to a recent report, as spotted by Rootmygalaxy, there would be three smartphones in the upcoming lineup, the S21, the S21 Plus and the S21 Ultra.

All three new smartphones will run on OneUI 3.0 based on Android 11. The model numbers SM-G991U points to Galaxy S21. The other two model numbers SM-G996U and SM-G998U point to Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra respectively.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S21 AND S21+ Battery Capacity:

Both batteries are not manufactured by Samsung, but by the Chinese company Ningde Amperex Technology Limited. The typical capacity should be higher than the specified nominal one.

For comparison, the Galaxy S20+ has a nominal battery capacity of 4370 mAh and a typical capacity of 4500 mAh. Thus, we can assume that the typical capacity of the Galaxy S21+ will be 4800 mAh. However, The nominal capacity of the Galaxy S21 is the same as the Galaxy S20. Accordingly, the typical capacity should remain the same – 4000mAh.

Upcoming S20 Series to Use 16GB LPDDR5X RAM

The company has confirmed that it has opened a new production line at its Pyeongtaek facility in Korea; to begin mass production of the new RAM. Interestingly, The new memory, according to Samsung, will offer the fastest speed and maximum capacity ever. Samsung says the new LPDDR5 memory will transfer data at 6400Mbps; which is 16% faster than the Galaxy Note 20’s LPDDR5 memory.

The body of the new memory will be 30% thinner, which means that it takes up less space in the smartphone. Such memory is expected to debut in the Samsung Galaxy S21 (S30); However, they will also appear in flagship smartphones from other manufacturers. Samsung has already confirmed that it will not be limited to using this memory only in its phones.
