Earlier today, Chinese manufacturer, Huami, released the Amazfit GTR 2 and Amazfit GTS 2. The main functions of these smartwatches are almost the same. However, these devices are different in their battery capacity, sport mode, and a few other aspects.
Amazfit GTR 2
The Huami Amazfit GTR 2 comes with a 1.39 inch 3D AMOLED display with a maximum brightness of 450 nits (328 PPI). According to Huami, the display comes with a diamond-like carbon coating. This gives it a 9H hardness which comparable to sapphire thus it is completely resistant to scratch. The company also claims that this smartwatch had to go through 35 rigorous processes and over 27 hours of polishing.
The Amazfit GTR 2 is the second generation in the Huami GTR series and it is slimmer than its predecessor. It has two knobs on the right side for regulating the watch but the left side is empty. Generally, this watch has two models in terms of design. There is a classic model that comes with a stainless steel body and leather strap. We also have a sports model that uses an aluminum alloy body with a silicone strap.
Under the hood, this watch packs 4GB of internal storage. Other features in this device include XiaoAI voice assistant, WiFi support, GPS, and GLONASS positioning systems. Furthermore, this device can seamlessly connect to Android and iOS smartphones. On the battery side, Huami claims that the battery can last for 38 days (basic watch mode). However, in regular smartwatch mode, the working time reduces to 14 days.
Moving on to biological features, the present-day smartwatches have been are technically health assistants. The Amazfit GTR 2 is not any different. It comes with the BioTracker 2 PPG optical sensor. This feature checks the heart rate as well as the blood oxygen saturation levels. Furthermore, this smartwatch also comes with a built-in PAI health assessment system.
According to Huami, the Amazfit GTR 2 supports 12 sports modes and has a water resistance of up to 50 meters. The device still supports NFC for payments.

Compared with the Amazfit GTS watch launched last year, the Amazfit GTS 2 watch is lighter and thinner. It has a thickness of only 9.7mm and weighs 24.7 g, making it comfortable to wear. The Amazfit GTS 2 watch also uses a square dial like its predecessor. The design concept pursues roundness, integration, and immersion. The metal body uses a 3D curved glass/curved design on the side of the body which perfectly integrates the side button.
In terms of the dial, the Amazfit GTS 2 watch uses a 1.65-inch super retina AMOLED screen. The diamond-like carbon coating improves the protection of the screen. The resolution is 341PPI, the brightness can reach 450nit. Users can clearly see the details of the display even in sunlight. The Amazfit GTS 2 watch supports mass dial replacement and also supports AOD screen display.
Looking at the functions, the Amazfit GTS 2 watch is similar to the Amazfit GTR 2. It also supports independent music playback, 4GB memory (can hold 600 music), and NetEase cloud music playlist synchronization. In addition, the Amazfit GTS 2 watch supports smart assistants (Xiao AI) and supports offline voice control.
According to Huami, the Amazfit GTS 2 currently supports 12 professional sports modes but this number will increase to 90 in the future. It further supports GPS+GLONESS dual positioning The water-resistant depth also reaches 50m.

Both smartwatches will be available for sale on JD.com, Tmall, Xiaomi Youpin, Suning, and Huami Mall at 0:00 on September 23. There will also be an offline sales of these devices on the Amazfit store on the same day.
The GTS disappointed me very much. Displaying emojis was not possible even with updates. This makes them useless in terms of notifications.
