According to a presentation by the marketing solutions department of TikTok, the company has over 100 million users in Europe. This app has been active in Europe since 2017. According to reports, a quarter of these users are from the U.K. According to the data, about 17 million Brits spend more than an hour on this app every day. This shows that TikTok has built a huge user base in just three years, creating huge competition for Facebook. Still in the U.K., 40% of its monthly active users are between 18 and 24 years old. On average, Brits use this app for 66 minutes per day and open it about 13 times in 24 hours.
As more people seek relaxation during the lockdown due to COVID-19, TikTok has achieved amazing growth. Its report for the first quarter of this year shows that the app has approximately 10 million regular users in the UK. Although U.S. President, Donald Trump, has threatened to ban TikTok, the company is still growing rapidly in other parts of the world. Its competitors are finding it difficult to get to TikTok’s level.
TikTok has the most British users in Europe, but they are not the most fanatical. TikTok’s 1.2 million Norwegian users open the app 17 times a day on average. They spend an average of 74 minutes browsing videos daily.
TikTok is growing massively
TikTok has 11 million users in France, and they watch videos for about an hour a day on average. This app also has 10.7 million users in Germany. In Spain, they are 8.8 million users while 9.8 million users of this app exist in Italy. In all these countries, 30% or more of TikTok users are between 18 and 24 years old.
The vast majority of TikTok users are women: in the UK, this proportion is 65%. In Spain, nearly 3/4 of TikTok users are women. TikTok’s Nordic users are more evenly gendered. Take Norway and Sweden as examples, 44% of users in these countries are men.
Mary Keane-Dawson, CEO of Takumi, an influencer marketing agency, said: “Social media consumption has risen and TikTok has played an important role in it. We know that the younger generation prefers social media to TV. In this era, people desire digital content that is entertaining and positive”.
According to Market research company, eMarketer, TikTok’s monthly active users in the UK will not reach 12.5 million before 2023. Earlier this month, TikTok announced that its monthly active users in Europe exceeded 100 million. This is the same as the number of monthly active users in the United States earlier this year.
TikTok’s second-quarter results showed that as of July, TikTok had 690 million global users. This is still a far cry from Facebook’s 2.7 billion monthly active users worldwide.
