OPPO Reno5 4G launched with Snapdragon 720G and 64MP Camera

OPPO Reno5 4G

Earlier this month, OPPO unveiled the next entry for its very successful Reno series – The Oppo Reno 5. As usual, the company unveiled two devices in China – Oppo Reno5 and Reno5 Pro 5G. Just a few weeks after the launch of the Reno5 series in China, the company is bringing a 4G variant aiming at global markets. The device, as you may expect, comes with OPPO Reno5 4G moniker and different specifications like 4G-only Snapdragon 720G SoC. Due to this fact, it can be described as a repurposed OPPO Reno4 phone that also brings the same chipset.

OPPO Reno5 4G specifications

The design of the Reno5 4G is nearly identical to the Reno4. The big difference is the punch-hole design and the size of the fourth rear camera. The device flaunts a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz screen refresh rate, and up to 180Hz touch sampling rate. The primary camera is a 64MP sensor paired with an 8MP wide-angle, 2MP depth, and 2MP macro sensors. Under the hood, the phone carries the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset (2 x Cortex-A76 @ 2.3GHz + 6 x Cortex-A55 @ 1.8GHz), paired with the Adreno 618 GPU. It has 8GB of LPDDR4X and 128GB of Internal Storage.

The device draws power from a 4,220mAh battery. It is feed through a USB-C port with up to 50W fast-charging. It’s just a little below the 65W SuperVOOC charging available in the 5G variant. However, it still provides super-fast charging. In case you’re concerned, OPPO has been kind enough to provide a 50W charging brick. As we know, there’s no way to prevent companies from adjusting to Apple’s strategy of removing the charging bricks of its phones’ retail packages. At least, the midrange phones are safe for now.

The device also has Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 and dual-SIM support. Furthermore, the AMOLED display ensures an in-display fingerprint scanner. Last but not least, it comes with a 3.5mm audio jack which isn’t common among 2020 premium devices. The phone runs with ColorOS 11 with Android 11 OS.

Pricing & Availability

The OPPO Reno 5 4G is available in two colors – Mysterious Black and Multi-Colored Silver. The device costs 8,690,000 VND (~$375) and is available via OPPO’s online store. Users can also get it from Vittel Store, FPT Shop, and a bunch of other retailers. For now, Oppo didn’t reveal details about availability in other markets. We know that these devices will eventually hit more markets including India and Europe.
