First Honor Smartphone With Qualcomm 5G Chip May Come In May-June

Snapdragon 888

After leaving Huawei, Honor’s first smartphone will be the Honor V40 series. It will use the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processors. At the same time, the latest news also indicate that Honor has also resumed cooperation with Qualcomm, and the first Honor smartphone sporting the Snapdragon 5G chip is under development.

Yesterday, we learned about this. And the source said that the cooperation between Honor and Qualcomm is in progress. Since Honor Terminal is not in the US entity list, approval is not required (for cooperation with US supply chain companies).

Gizchina News of the week

Considering that Honor only officially became independent at the end of last year, there will be some distance from the resumption of cooperation with Qualcomm to the launch of the product. So the Honor smartphone of Snapdragon 5G will not show up immediately.

A Chinese media Caixin quoted sources as saying that Honor smartphone products based on Qualcomm’s 5G chips are already in progress. Plus, it added that the new products should hit the market around May and June 2021. Moreover, you shouldn’t wait for top-end models. The first smartphones will be positioning as mid-range products.

This simply means that Honor won’t launch a Snapdragon 888 smartphone first. Instead, it will be using Snapdragon chips from 7xx series, presumably the Snapdragon 765G.

Plus Google Services

Prior to this, we informed you that the future Honor smartphone products may come with pre-installed Google Services. The company said that customers would have no problem with after-sales service. They will be able to enjoy all services as before, but new products will be serviced through Honor’s own service system.

One of the main questions concerns Google Mobile Services. Since May 2019, Huawei has been under sanctions and cannot release smartphones with new hardware and Google services. The company will not own any shares of Honor and will not participate in decision-making. In this regard, there is a possibility that in the future we will be able to see Honor smartphones with pre-installed Google services.
