Honor 30 Pro / Pro+ can support 66W fast charge – see how

In recent times, there has been so much development in the smartphone industry. The charging capacity is one area that gets consistent updates yearly (sometimes multiple times a year). Huawei released the Honor 30 series on April 15, 2020. This series comes with a 40W super-fast charging capacity. However, according to recent measurements, both the Honor 30 Pro and Honor 30 Pro+ can support up to 66W fast charging.

Honor 30 Pro

The first measurement by @baldplas shows that when the Honor 30 Pro+ uses the latest 66W charger and 6A data cable, the charging speed is much improved. It may not be charging at 66W but certainly way faster than 40W on the phone label.

Furthermore, @ChanganDigitalKing did another test with the Honor 30 Pro. This time, he used the 65W charger for Huawei PC. The result shows that the charging speed is much faster than the official 40W fast charging. In addition, he also used the Honor V40 66W charger to charge the Honor 30 Pro+. His result shows that the charging speed is much higher but the battery didn’t last. This suggests that it is perhaps unstable.

Nevertheless, it is interesting to know that the Honor 30 series can actually take more than the official 40W fast charging. The Honor 30 Pro and Pro+ comes with Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G chip. This chip supports full range 5G as well as a dual-mode six-band. In addition, Honor 30 Pro and Pro+ use VC liquid cooling technology, 4000 mAh battery, and 40W super fast charge. Honor30 Pro+ also supports 27W wireless super fast charge and reverse wireless charging. This series sells for between 2999 yuan ($463) to 5499 yuan ($848).
