Back in November last year, Huawei sold its Honor sub-brand to a Chinese group. Due to the ban, Huawei is not being able to keep concentrating in two distinct brands. For that reason, it gave up Honor to keep up only with Huawei-branded smartphones. This opens a bright road ahead of Honor, as a separate brand. After all, the brand is free from its ties with Huawei and the ban applied over it. Now, the company is free to deal with companies using US-related technology such as TSMC, Qualcomm, Google, and others. Honor unveiled the Honor V40 some weeks ago, but it was still based on Huawei’s work, now the company is set to introduce new products in various market segments. According to a leakster, the brand will revive its Honor Magic series with style. The upcoming Magic-branded smartphone will be a folding handset.
According to the so-called, Digital Chat Station, a popular leakster from Weibo, Honor is planning to release new mid-range and entry-level smartphones very soon. Unfortunately, we don’t know which models are planned. However, it may be the Honor 11, Honor 11X, and their variants. The company isn’t killing the lineups established by Huawei. After all, the company wants to absorb its former customers and also wants to catch former Huawei users that can’t deal with the company’s Google-less approach. The entry-level smartphones probably will be the Honor 10A. So far, we’re expecting successors for the devices released last year. However, the brand seems to have bolder plans for the smartphone market.
The leaker also reveals that the company’s next flagship which will launch as the Honor 40 will come with a new processor and will be announced in May or June. For now, we have no clues about the chipset inside of the new flagship. It can be a Dimensity 1200, or a Snapdragon 888. After all, Honor is already in talks with MediaTek and Qualcomm. The leakster affirms this fact by saying that the “new Honor” is no longer limited. New platforms Dimensity 1100/1200 and Snapdragon 888 are all valid choices and the flagship is ready to go.
The new flagship will reach the market in May or June. Moreover, one of the main selling points of the Honor 40 will be the camera performance. This comes from the fact that some of Huawei’s big advancements in camera technology are now owned by Honor.
Last but not least, the source confirms that the Honor Magic Foldable phone is coming along with a flagship tablet. We heard reports before about the Magic series return this year. Now, he further affirms that the device is a folding handset. This will be the first folding phone coming under Honor branding.
Hopefully, we will not have to wait much time to hear and see more about Honor smartphones.
