iPhone 13 series will still have only one biometric method

Due to the coronavirus pandemic last year, the usability of Apple’s only biometric method came under scrutiny. For some years now, Apple iPhones only support Face ID unlocking. However, since the virus requires people to always wear a mask, unlocking the iPhone became an issue. With the mask on, the Face ID feature will not work. Apple later designed a new feature to help users quickly unlock the iPhone while wearing a mask. Although this feature allows Apple to unlock the phone in seconds while wearing a mask, not all iPhone users have an Apple Watch. Therefore, most Apple users are looking forward to the early re-introduction of the Touch ID feature. Of course, most Apple fans are expecting the Touch ID on the iPhone 13.

At the beginning of the year, there were reports that the Apple iPhone 13 series is likely to use the Touch ID fingerprint technology. The reports also claim that the latest flagship iPhone will use both Face ID + Touch ID dual authentication. Apple has indeed registered a large number of under-screen Touch ID technology patents in the past six months. However, the latest report is not what many iPhone users will like to hear.

Touch ID is not coming back so soon

According to reports, Apple may not bring Touch ID back to the iPhone so early. Well-known leaker, Mark Gurman, reveals that Apple’s iPhone 13 series still has only one biometric method. This single biometric method is the Face ID.

He emphasized: “Apple has tested the under-screen fingerprint for this year’s device, but this feature may not appear on this generation of iPhone”.

As of now, the pandemic is still on in parts of the world. Under the current circumstances, the iPhone only supports “Face ID” and password unlocking. This will significantly reduce the unlocking experience of consumers in some regions.

Relatively speaking, multiple unlocking methods such as 3D face unlocking + fingerprint unlocking + password unlocking have liberated the user’s unlocking scene to a greater extent, allowing users to freely choose the unlocking method for different scenarios.

Despite the absence of this feature, the iPhone 13 series will still have some major upgrades. For example, the company will greatly improve the camera configuration. The lens stability and night imaging capabilities will also be better. Furthermore, this device will come with a 120Hz high refresh rate screen for the first time. Also, all the series will come with higher batteries.

In addition, Mark Gurman claims that the iPhone 13 will officially arrive in mid-September. These new iPhones will come with a smaller notch.
