Honor releases the HarmonyOS for a variety of old models

Last week, Huawei officially released the Huawei P50 series. These smartphones are the first models to come with the HarmonyOS system out of the box. In addition to the support for the Huawei P50 series, HarmonyOS officials are also constantly adapting to older models. According to a recent pollen club announcement, there are already many Honor old models that are getting the HarmonyOS update. This system upgrade is fully open to all users, and there is no limit to the upgrades. The official HarmonyOS update is available for the Honor 30 Pro series, Honor Play 4 Pro, Honor 20 series, Honor Magic2, Honor V30 series, Honor 30, Honor V20, and Honor tablet V6 (KRJ-W09/KRJ-ANO0 only).


Users with the above models can check for updates through the “Service APP-Upgrade Early Access” path. They do not need to apply for qualifications through portals such as the Huawei community.

From previous practical measurements, after upgrading HarmonyOS 2, the most intuitive benefit for ordinary users is that the overall performance and user experience improvement. The opening speed of the phone’s application, system fluency, game performance, and battery life is much better. According to the company, old models that are already struggling for performance will be “resurrected” instantly.

According to Huawei, since the release of HarmonyOS on June 2, it now has over 40 million active users. This is equivalent to 8 users upgrading every second. In the future, HarmonyOS will continue to provide coverage for older models.

Five years old devices will get HarmonyOS

Also, said that in the near future, Huawei Mate 9, P10, and other old models will get the update. The company is looking forward to more users getting connected in the IoT era. According to previous announcements, the Huawei Mate 9 series and P10 series will get HarmonyOS in the first half of 2022. Although these devices are five years old and come with Kirin 960 chips. This shows Huawei’s commitment to releasing HarmonyOS for all its existing smartphones. After just a month of HarmonyOS rollout, Huawei had well over 25 million devices running this system.

The company also announced that it will upgrade the HarmonyOS system for more than 100 devices before the second half of next year. These devices will include both Huawei and Honor smartphones, tablets, smart screens, and more. Furthermore, the company plans that over 300 million devices will have this system by the end of the year. Its schedule shows that out of this number, 200 million will be its own devices. The other 100 million devices will come from third-party manufacturers.
