Today, industry insider, Ross Young, revealed that the Apple iPhone SE 3 will be postponed to 2024. This smartphone will come with an LCD display and the size will be between 5.7 – 6.1 inches. Apple used LCD screens on iPhone XR and iPhone 11 before. Taking iPhone XR as an example, its screen size is 6.1 inches and it comes with a notch. As of now, there is not much information on the iPhone SE 3. Of course, it has no less than three years before arrival going by the latest report.
However, there are reports that next year’s iPhone 14 series will come with a punch-hole display. If this is the case, then we can not rule out the possibility of the 2024 iPhone SE 3 using the same punch-hole display.
As of now, the on-screen fingerprint for LCD displays is very far from maturity. In fact, it is not ready for mass production and it’s still in development. The OLED display under-screen fingerprint technology far exceeds the LCD and has been commercialized for quite some time now. If the Apple iPhone SE 3 uses a large LCD screen, then it may have to adopt a side fingerprint sensor. Alternatively, it may just use FaceID instead of fingerprint technology.

However, it is worth noting that three years is a very long time for technology to mature. The on-screen fingerprint technology may become mature before 2024. Considering the amount of work on this technology, we expect some breakthroughs in the coming years. Thus, we can not be so sure about anything regarding the iPhone SE 3. If the launch date is truly 2024, then we have to forget about this device until a few years from now.
Apple iPhone SE Plus will arrive next year
It is also worth noting that before this, Ross Young also revealed that Apple will release the iPhone SE Plus next year. This smartphone will come with a screen size of 4.7 inches, which is the same as the iPhone 8. This seems to mean that the iPhone SE Plus will have a design similar to that of the iPhone 8. However, this smartphone will incorporate a powerful processor, A15 Bionic. The iPhone SE Plus will be Apple’s new generation of “small steel guns.”
Following the current trends in today’s smartphone market, the small display market is shrinking. Not many users are interested in such small-screen devices. Nevertheless, Apple has a way of convincing the public to purchase its products. Also, Apple will release the small-screen iPhone SE Plus for specific markets.
