These brands are currently preparing for their new product launch conferences. The fourth quarter and first quarter of every year is the time for the launch of new flagship processors. This year, in addition to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898, we will also have the MdieaTek Dimensity 2000 flagship processor. While the Snapdragon 898 SoC will arrive this year, the Dimensity 2000 will officially launch early next year.
For now, there have been numerous speculations regarding the Dimensity 2000 and Snapdragon 898 SoCs. It appears that the Dimensity 2000 will match or perhaps surpass the Snapdragon 898 SoC. This is a top-level flagship processor with enough performance to catch up with the Snapdragon 898. The industry considers this processor as “MediaTek’s turnaround”.

Yesterday, Lu Weibing, Redmi’s general manager mentions the Dimensity 2000 chip for the first time. His Weibo post reads “What chip is Dimensity 2000? Everyone tell us……”. Thus, he is asking Mi Fans what they think about MediaTek’s upcoming flagship processor. It is not common for top company executives to mention products that they don’t intend to use. This post sparks speculations that Redmi will use this flagship processor.
Redmi does not release many flagship smartphones and K-series is its most popular flagship series. Thus, there are speculations that the company will use the Dimensity 2000 on the Redmi K50 series. There are also reports that the company may use this chip for the Redmi K50 game enhanced version.
The Redmi K40 game enhanced version currently on sale is equipped with the Dimensity chip. However, it is still far behind the real flagship performance. Thus, the smartphone is not a top choice for gaming. Nevertheless, the Redmi K50 game enhanced version will completely make up for this shortcoming.
Dimensity 2000 Vs Snapdragon 898
On paper, Dimensity 2000 is comparable to Snapdragon 898. Both flagship processors adopt the same architecture. The CPU is 1 x 3.0GHz X2 super large core + 3 x 2.85GHz large core + 4 x 1.8GHz small core. Furthermore, the MediaTek chip will use a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU. The chip is also based on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process.
Looking at these parameters, the performance output of Dimensity 2000 will be stronger than that of Snapdragon 898. We expect this processor to bring sufficient protection in terms of power consumption. The Dimensity 2000 has broken some barriers in the AnTuTu Benchmark reaching a score of whopping 1,002,220 points. There are reports that the Snapdragon 898 SoC will also exceed 1 million.
