Motorola set to debut the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 – to “throw a big bomb into the industry”

Today, Chen Jin, general manager of Lenovo’s mobile phone business in China posted on his Weibo handle what we should expect from the company’s new flagship. According to the Weibo post, “the new flagship is estimated to throw a big bomb into the industry”. Motorola is getting set to release the Motorola Edge X series new products next month. This flagship smartphone will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 flagship processor.

Although the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 has not yet been announced, details about this processor have been exposed. The chip is based on Samsung’s 4nm process and uses the Cortex X2 super core for the first time. The CPU frequency exceeds 3.0GHz, and the GPU is Adreno 730. The Antutu score is expected to exceed one million points.

There should be no suspense about this chip being launched by Motorola in the world. Chen Jin has hinted more than once on Weibo that Motorola will be the first to release the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 model. At present, this phone has obtained a network license. As mentioned earlier, in this press conference “Motorola will throw a big bomb on the industry”. This means that this new product launch will have a couple of surprises.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra to debut Snapdragon 8 Gen1

According to previous reports, the new Motorola flagship will come with the name “Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. Its model number is XT-2201, while the internal code name is “Rogue” (the external code name is “HiPhi”).

 

Under the hood, the phone will carry the brand new Qualcomm sm8450 flagship platform. The SM8450 chip is expected to use Samsung’s 4nm process. Also, it will integrate a new dual Part 3400 architecture and an Adreno 730 GPU. In addition, the Snapdragon 898 chip will have a total of eight cores. The base frequency shown in the list is 1.79GHz.

Also, it will come with an 8/12GB LPDDR5 memory and a 128/256GB UFS 3.1 flash storage. The 6.67-inch OLED punch-hole screen will have a 1080P + resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and an HDR 10+ certification.

In addition, the front lens of the smartphone will have up to 60MP resolution. On the opposite side, we will find a triple-camera, including a 50MP main camera (OV50A, OIS), a 50MP super wide-angle (S5KJN1) lens, and a 2MP depth of field (OV02B1B) lens.

It is worth mentioning that the machine will have a built-in 5000mAh battery that supports 68W (strictly speaking, 68.2W) wired fast charging. So the phone will be able to charge to 50% in 15 minutes and to 100% in 35 minutes.

In other aspects, the machine is pre-installed with the MYUI 3.0 system based on Android 12. It will adopt a plastic shell, support IP52 waterproof and dustproof, retain a 3.5mm headphone jack, have stereo speakers, support Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, and so on.
