The Huawei WATCH GT 2 and Huawei WATCH GT 2e smartwatches have recently received system updates. In effect, now, they support downloading third-party applications.
- The updated version number of Huawei WATCH GT 2 46mm is 11.0.14.77/78;
- The updated version number of Huawei WATCH GT 2 42mm is 11.0.14.57;
- And the updated version number of Huawei WATCH GT 2e is 11.0.14.25.
Update content of the three watches is roughly the same. In addition to supporting downloading third-party applications, it can also install heart health research applications, measure heart health-related data through the watch, and optimize system stability in some scenarios.
Users who are eligible to upgrade can enter Sports Health >> Click on the connected device in the device interface >> enter the device details page >> find firmware update >> update version.
To download third-party applications, you need to use the Huawei smartphones’ sports and health application. The latter needs to be downloaded through EMUI 4.0 and above or the HarmonyOS.

Both watches hit the market a couple of years ago. Honestly, the Huawei WATCH GT 2 came a year earlier in 2019. Anyway, these two are very popular Huawei smartwatches that belong to the high-end category.
Back in May of this year, the Huawei WATCH GT 2 got another system update, which brought a lot of improvements. Apart from optimizing the system stability, it also added custom sports functions and remote camera functions.
Huawei WATCH GT 2 Key Features
The Huawei Watch GT 2 was launched in two dial sizes – 42 mm and 46 mm. There are also various color options.
Inside, the watch sports the company’s self-developed Kirin A1 chipset. It is exclusive to Huawei wearables. The 455mAh battery inside the 46 mm variant provides 14 days of battery life. It runs on Lite OS that’s based on Google’s WearOS. Unlike the larger version, the 42 mm model lasts up to a week.
On the front, we can find a 1.39-inch AMOLED display on the 46 mm version and a 1.2-inch display on the 42 mm model. Huawei offers multiple watch faces. The watch also displays notifications from apps including SMS messages, email, calendar, and social media apps.
As said, we are dealing with a top-end smartwatch. So it’s logical to see tons of sensors including an optical heart rate sensor, geomagnetic sensor, gyroscopic sensor, accelerometer sensor, ambient light sensor, and air pressure sensor. It is 5ATM waterproof.
The Huawei WATCH GT 2 tracks various outdoor and indoor sports activities. Among them, we can mention running, walking, hiking, trail runs, cycling, open water swimming, and triathlons.
