The much-awaited Honor Magic V foldable phone’s launch date has been tipped, despite the lack of official confirmation. Honor’s maiden foldable phone has been subject to several leaks and speculations lately. The word on the street is that the popular smartphone brand is gearing up to unveil its first-ever foldable handset. However, Honor is leaving no stone unturned in its attempt to keep key details about its upcoming foldable phone under wraps, all to no avail.

As mentioned, the Honor Magic V has been floating around the rumor mill for quite some time now. An earlier report even claims that the hotly-anticipated Magic V will be the first foldable phone to pack Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor under the hood. To recall, Honor’s former parent company Huawei recently unveiled the P50 Pocket foldable phone in China. The Chinese version of the P50 Pocket foldable phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G SoC.

Taking to Twitter on December 24, noted insider Teme revealed the Honor Magic V foldable phone’s launch date. According to the tweet by the tipster, the Honor will bring the Magic V smartphone into the Chinese market on January 10.

To recall, tipster Digital Chat Station had previously suggested that the upcoming Honor foldable phone will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC via a Weibo post. Furthermore, DCS claimed that the handset could retail for a whopping CNY 10,000 (about INR 1,18,000).

What Else To Expect?

Other details about the upcoming Honor Magic V foldable phone are still few and far between. However, Honor CEO Zhao Ming divulged some vital pieces of information about the company’s upcoming device by posting a short video on Honor China Weibo account. According to Ming (via MyDrivers), the foldable phone will sport the best folding screen. The chief executive claims that the phone will adopt the “most complete structural design.” Moreover, the executive says that the foldable phone uses complex hinge technology.

In the short clip, Ming points out that the Honor Magic V will run an optimized software. Making a critical remark about competitors, Ming called out other manufacturers for making smaller folding displays. The executive claims that smaller folding screens contravene the original idea behind making foldable phones. Moreover, the Honor Magic V will reportedly feature a dual-screen design. The device could come with an 8-inch internal display, and a 6.5-inch external secondary screen.

Chinese smartphone manufacturers like Oppo and Huawei recently jumped in on the foldable phone bandwagon. The company have unveiled their own folding handsets. Huawei recently announced the Huawei P50 Pocket, while Oppo launched the Oppo Find N in China.
