TCL 30 V 5G now available in the United States

Earlier this month, TCL announced a plethora of devices at CES 2022 and one of them was the TCL 30 V 5G – a mid-range 5G smartphone. TCL owns the rights for BlackBerry and Alcatel but is still keen on its own-branded smartphones. Now, it’s bringing the TCL 30 V 5G to the United States in a bid to conquer the market. The company launched the device in a partnership with Verizon. It has started selling the smartphone for $300 in its single 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage trim with a Midnight Gray colorway. Let’s find what these smartphones have in tow.

TCL 30 V 5G alleged specifications

The TCL 30 V 5G brings a 6.67-inch IPS LCD screen with a Full HD+ resolution with 2,400 x 1,080 resolution. It also has a punch-hole cutout for its 16 MP selfie snapper. The panel offers certain protection thanks to Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The device also supports mmWave and C-Band 5G for optimal high-speed coverage thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC. This platform offers full 5G connectivity, but it’s not as fast as the newer Snapdragon 690 / 695 or any device in the Snapdragon 7xx series. However, the goal here is to offer affordability and 5G connectivity. The device is paired with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal Storage. You can even expand this amount thanks to a dedicated micro SD card slot.

Gizchina News of the week

In terms of optics, the TCL 30 V 5G offers a 50 MP primary camera, an 5 MP ultrawide snapper, and a 2 MP macro camera. Although the ultrawide camera isn’t among the best, we have to thank TCL for offering something more useful than the 2 MP macro and depth combo.

Unfortunately, the device still runs Android 11 and has TCL UI running on top. For now, there is no word on a possible Android 12 update. The device draws its powers from a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 18 W fast-charging through the USB Type C port.

Other features include a dual speaker system, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device has Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.1 with A2DP and LE, GPS with only A-GPS. It lacks NFC and FM Radio.

For now, there is no word on availability for other TCL 30 models. The company is, in fact, preparing a new round of devices for the reveal. We should hear more in the coming days. The brand will try its luck with the TCL 30 V 5G for the time being.
